Quinta da Raza
History

Casa do Outeiro, the family house, is located in Veade, Celorico de Basto, in the middle of the Vinho Verde Region. The Portuguese Institute of Patrimony classifies it for Public Interest. Its history goes back to the XVII Century and it has been in the same family ever since.

Originally, the Quinta reared cattle, had cereal crops and apple orchards as well as a vineyard. As time went on the vineyards took over. Today we continue the heritage of the region by growing the unique grape varieties ranging from Azal, Arinto, Vinhão to Alvarinho.

Diogo Teixeira Coelho, is a direct descendant of the family and has been commited to wine production, since he was 17 years old. He has a passion for the wonderful world of wine and very quickly realised the unique characteristics of the Basto wine region.

After his grandfather`s - Inácio Xavier de Barros Teixeira Coelho death, he started his activity as a wine producer. The farm`s potential, the agriculture and  his passion for the world of wine were the main reasons for his commitment, enthusiasm and dedication to the restructuring of the vineyard and the farm.

Diogo was honoured with the title of "The Grape Grower of the year 2008”, by the "Viticulture Commission of the Vinho Verde Region” and this was the only time this award has ever been made.
