In Mondim de Basto, you’ll find the Castro do Crastoeiro, one of the best-studied fortified settlements that proliferated in the mountainous areas of Northern Portugal during the Iron Age (9th century BC – 1st century AD) and in chronologies predating the imperial power of Rome. Join us in visiting this proto-historic settlement and learn more about the daily life and societies of peasants and warriors who inhabited it.
Take on the challenge of identifying the rock art from the 3rd millennium BCE preserved on granite blocks, providing evidence of the sanctification of this space and its connection to climatic and natural elements, such as the majestic Monte Farinha.
After the visit to the Castro, we’ll head to the summit of Monte Farinha (max. alt. 947 meters), specifically to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Graça, the finish line of the most famous stage of the Tour of Portugal in cycling. Marvel at the breathtaking landscape and capture some of the most memorable photographs of your vacation.
