Discover the Basto region, its nature, biodiversity, culture, wines and regional products

On this trail you'll walk along the old cobblestones marked by the wheels of rural ox carts until you reach the towns that form part of a group of vernacular villages on the slopes of the Serra do Alvão, built with materials from the surrounding area, such as schist, slate, granite, thatch, wood, among others.

As you pass through the villages, you'll see a wide variety of granaries, also known as canastros. They are usually made of stone and wood and were essentially used for drying corn. The size of the granary reveals the wealth and social status of its owner.

Once you've finished the Vernacular Villages Trail, there's nothing better to recover your energy than a visit to Quinta da Raza with a Commented Tasting of 3 wines from the Basto sub-region's indigenous grape varieties. Come and see our facilities, marvel at the view of the vineyards from the panoramic terrace and delight in the freshness and unique flavors of our Dom Diogo Azal, Dom Diogo Padeiro and Dom Diogo Vinhão. To accompany your tasting, you'll find the right pairing, with Portuguese organic preserves on toast, traditional bread and a cheese and sausage board!

Have you made your reservation yet? We look forward to seeing you!
