Rosé wine - How is it made?

How is it produced? Colored white wine? White and red grapes? Only red grapes?

These questions are common and deserve answers!

How we produce our rosé wine:

Quinta da Raza 's rosé wines are produced exclusively from red grapes. To develop them, we select the grape varieties and the plots on which to plant them in order to express their best characteristics.

We chose red grape varieties with the potential to produce wines with pleasant aromas and good acidity, essential for the wine's freshness and liveliness.

The grapes are harvested by hand and taken to the press. During pressing, the juice runs off and, depending on the grape, it can become more or less colored. The color of the must/wine can vary from very light pink, which is then called "onion skin", to a darker pink, very close to claret. These color variations are not a sign of quality. Light or dark, rosé can be excellent, it's just a matter of taste, but without contact with the film, we want a light-colored rosé.

The juice is then vinified just like white wine, which means it is kept at a low temperature and protected from the air to preserve all its aromas. It already expresses its full potential a few weeks after harvest and can be consumed the following year.

Quinta da Raza 's rosé wines are by definition convivial wines, to be drunk chilled in all circumstances and appreciated for theirexceptional aroma and freshness .

If the watchword is relaxation, the synonym is DOM DIOGO PADEIRO. The wine is unknown to most oenophiles because the grape variety has been practically abandoned in the region. It's a wine with a soft, enveloping aftertaste and, when vinified as a rose at Quinta da Raza, it expresses a high aromatic potential where strawberries and raspberries stand out.

RAZA ROSE is the pure expression of the region's most emblematic red grape varieties , including Padeiro, Espadeiro and Vinhão. It's an irreverent wine with a marked freshness and personality. Aromas of raspberries, watermelon and wild strawberries stand out .
