Arinto

Cultivated throughout the Vinho Verde region, it is in its more inland areas that it finds the best conditions to express its full potential. Its geographical distribution is not limited to the north-west of Portugal, but it is also found in other wine-growing areas and regions, so it is not surprising to see the profusion of synonyms, such as 'Pedernã', 'Azal Galego', 'Perdigão', 'Pé de Perdiz', among others. It is characterized by its vigorous character and low fertility, giving rise to large, very compact and heavy bunches. Being a very productive variety, it's not surprising that it is held in such high esteem by winegrowers. Its versatility is well known, allowing it to produce everything from excellent sparkling wines to young, aromatic wines or even wines aged in wood. The wines are citrus in color, with fresh, harmonious flavours and very fruity (peach, ripe apple and pear) and somewhat floral aromas.

At Quinta da Raza, Arinto is one of the most widely planted grape varieties and is present in three of our wines, both as a monovarietal - Dom Diogo Arinto - and as a blended variety, combining with Azal and Trajadura in Raza Branco and with Avesso and Alvarinho in Quinta da Raza Espumante Bruto Natural 2019.
