The Quinta took on a new life. The vineyards, full of grapes, were ready to be harvested. The transformation process began with a mixture of magic, a feeling of togetherness and joint happiness. Genuine moments that marked a turning point in this year's restlessness: that's how the 2020 grape harvest went at Quinta da Raza.

Our soul is clothed in the ancestral traditions that are so characteristic of our wine. Walking side by side with tradition, at Quinta da Raza we respect and follow the traditional harvest process. We harvest our grapes by hand, tread the red grapes in century-old granite lagares and our knowledge, combined with modern, bold and innovative technology, helps us to create our great vinho verde wines.  

This year, the grape harvest came early to our address. It's been a relatively dry year and the mild temperatures arrived earlier than expected, bringing the whole harvest process forward by around 15 days compared to 2019. By the end of August, the grapes, which were of perfect quality, were already at the desired point of ripeness and ready to be picked. 

The transformation process began with a mixture of magic, a feeling of togetherness and joint happiness. The commitment and affection of our harvesters in collecting the grapes and unloading all the baskets into the presses was palpable in this family passion, which spans generations and is felt in every drop. At this stage, there is no rush, as the different grape varieties must be harvested at the exact point of ripeness. After the harvest, it's time for the winery to continue its work in a festive and convivial atmosphere, for a great year of production. The experienced and dedicated employees smell the fermentation with a smile on their lips, recalling the annual joy of seeing the result of hard work safely stored away. 

They were the most genuine and unforgettable moments of the year. Today, the juice is fermenting at a good pace and we will soon be able to taste and evaluate the new harvest. We anticipate excellent harvests from the Arinto, Avesso, Alvarinho and Padeiro grape varieties.

Above all, however, it is our ancestral roots marked by a bold character and the way we care for our vines, in perfect symbiosis with nature and the biodiversity that surrounds us, that make you feel our soul in our wines. Each bottle, bottled with our unmistakable DNA, elevates the quality and excellence of Quinta da Raza.
