Cod with everyone

In this Christmas recipe, which represents the typical Portuguese Christmas, we have combined with this dish the intensity, sharing and family flavour that our Avesso / Alvarinho wine symbolizes so well!

Servings: 4 people 

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 onions
  • 400g potatoes
  • 4 carrots
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 slices of soaked cod
  • 400g cooked chickpeas
  • 500g of Portuguese cabbage and
  • 200g sprouts
  • Olive oil and vinegar to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste

 

PREPARATION

  1. Boil the eggs in salted water for 10 minutes and set aside at the end.
  2. In a separate pan, cook the cod in boiling water for 5 minutes with two quartered onions, the garlic, bay leaf, pepper and salt to taste.
  3. Remove the cod and set aside.
  4. Add the peeled and chopped potatoes and carrots to the cod water and cook for 3 minutes.
  5. Add the Portuguese cabbage and sprouts to the same boiling water and boil for 15 minutes. If necessary, adjust the seasoning.
  6. In a separate pan, heat the cooked chickpeas with salt to taste and a drizzle of olive oil.
  7. Peel the eggs, drain the water from the chickpeas and the water from the rest of the mixture.
  8. Place all the ingredients on a platter, with the bottom drizzled with olive oil.
